Note: Koe is a personal voice-journaling app designed to help you capture and revisit your own reflections. It is not a medical, mental health, therapeutic, safety, or emergency service.

What we collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal data to our servers. There are no analytics, advertising SDKs, or remote accounts tied to your recordings within the app.

Cookies and analytics

We do not use cookies, analytics SDKs, advertising identifiers, or other tracking technologies.

On-device processing

Your recordings remain on your device and are encrypted using platform security and app encryption features. Any processing happens locally; we do not receive, review, or store your recordings on external servers.

Permissions and use of data

Microphone access is used solely to capture audio you choose to record. File and storage permissions, where requested by the platform, are used to save and secure your recordings on your device. We do not share or sell your recordings or other personal data.

Purchases

Optional premium subscriptions are processed by the app store you purchased through (Apple's App Store or Google Play). We do not receive or store your name, payment details, or billing address. The app keeps a local record of your subscription status on your device to unlock premium features. Purchase history and receipts are managed by the app store under its own privacy policy.

Backups outside our control

Your device, operating system, or backup services may copy recordings or app data as part of system or cloud backups. Those services are outside our control. Adjust your device or backup settings if you do not want copies stored elsewhere.

Your rights and choices

Because we do not collect or store your data on our systems, requests to access, correct, or delete personal data cannot be fulfilled by us. You control your recordings directly on your device.

Your control and deletion

You control your recordings. Where the app provides in-app deletion, it deletes the local records and encrypted files the app can access, but it does not remove copies already captured by device backups, user-selected storage locations, or other third-party services. On Android, encrypted files saved in shared device storage may remain after uninstall and must be removed with device storage or file management tools. On iOS, deleting the app normally removes Koe data stored inside the app container, while Offload App and device or iCloud backups may preserve or restore data depending on your settings. If you use an explicit encrypted export or backup location in the future, delete those files separately.

Children

The app is intended for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal data from children. Because we do not operate user accounts or remote storage, we have no reliable way to identify individual users.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy as the app evolves. If you continue to use the app after changes take effect, that use will constitute acceptance of the updated policy.
